During the measurement campaign CARRIBA (Cloud, Aerosol, Radiation, and TuRbulence in the trade wInd regime over BArbados) more than 30 measurement flights using the helicopter-borne platform ACTOS have been performed. The focus of this campaign was the investigation of microphysical properties of the trade wind cumulus clouds.
During these flights aerosol number size distributions as well as total particle number concentrations of aerosol particles have been measured. The total particle number concentration has been measured using a commercial Condensation Particle Counter (CPC, Model 3762, TSI Inc., St. Paul, USA) as well as one Fast Condensation Particles Counter (Fast CPC) which has been developed at TROPOS (Wehner et al., 2011). The Fast CPC measures with a temporal resolution of 20 Hz while the commercial CPC resolves only 1 Hz.
