Aim is the description of particle growth processes (secondary aerosol formation) and the development of relevant process descriptions which can be used in aerosol models. Therefore, laboratory and aerosol chamber experiments were performed to study secondary organic aerosol (SOA) formation. In field and laboratory experiments the chemical processing of particulate organic matter and of mineral dust particles is studied.
