World Calibration Center for Aerosol Physics (WCCAP)
The tasks of the WCCAP and the associated working group include audits of aerosol measurement programs of national and international observatories, calibration workshops for in situ aerosol measurement instruments, training of young scientists through training courses, consulting on the implementation of aerosol measurement programs, partnerships with international GAW observatories and the development of guidelines and recommendations for microphysical and optical in situ aerosol measurements.
The 'World Calibration Center for Aerosol Physics' (WCCAP) was established in 2002 under an agreement with the WMO (World Meteorological Organization) and the German Federal Environmental Agency for the GAW (Global Atmosphere Watch) program.
It is also part of the in situ Aerosol Topical Centre ECAC (European Center for Aerosol Calibration & Characterization) of the European research infrastructure ACTRIS (Aerosol, Clouds and Trace Gases Research Infrastructure).
