Research areas & research interest

  • OLALA – Optical Lab for Lidar Applications: A scattering lab to get the optical properties of size-selected mineral dust in the exact backscatter direction for lidar applications and model improvements
  • Multiwavelength polarization lidar measurements
  • Algorithm development for EarthCARE using the synergy of lidar and imager products
  • Aerosol optical properties and aerosol classification, with focus on long-range transported dust and stratospheric smoke
  • Combination of lidar retrievals of cloud-relevant aerosol properties such as cloud condensation nuclei (CCN) and ice nucleating particles (INP) with in situ measurements
  • Humidity studies of sea salt aerosol with lidar remote sensing

Current projects

  • OLALA – Optical Lab for Lidar Applications (Leibniz Junior Research Group)
