ACRIDICON-CHUVA 2014
ACRIDICON-CHUVA
„Aerosol, Cloud, Precipitation, and Radiation Interactions and Dynamics of Convective Cloud Systems. Cloud processes of the main precipitation systems in Brazil: A contribution to cloud resolving modeling and to the GPM (GlobAl Precipitation Measurement)“
Brazilian, German and US-American researchers undertake an extensive measurement campaign to study the properties and effects of convective clouds (thunderclouds). (Manaus, Brazil, 2.9.-10.3. 2,014)
The campaign ACRIDICON (=
A
erosol, Cloud, Precipitation, and Radiation Interactions and Dynamics of Convective Cloud Systems
) is a close cooperation withe the Brazil project CHUVA and the US-Brazil project GOAmazon. It is founded by the Max Planck Society (MPG), the German Research Foundation (DFG) and the German Aerospace Center (DLR) gefördert.
The campaign is coordinated by the Max Planck Institute for Chemistry Mainz und the Universität Leipzig. Other German researchers come from Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München, KIT Karlsruhe, FZJ Jülich, Johannes-Gutenberg-Universität Mainz, TROPOS Leipzig, DLR Oberpfaffenhofen, Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB) Braunschweig and Universität Heidelberg.
Prof. Dr. Meinrat O. Andreae, Director at the Max Planck Institute for Chemistry Mainz, reports in his blog about ACRIDICON-CHUVA:
